MSc EACT takes place in the new City Campus "Luigi Einaudi" (CLE), named after the second President of the Italian Republic, who grew up in Turin. Projected by the renowned architect Norman Foster, CLE is a ground-breaking architecture inaugurated in 2012, now one of the most recognizable landmarks among Turin's sightseeing. In 2014 it was included among “10 most spectacular university buildings” by Emporis-CNN Travel.

The complex is constituted by seven main buildings opened onto a huge central square, covered by trees and many outdoor artworks (such as a wooden statue representing a bull, symbol of Turin, erected by Mario Ceroli); it works as an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas and good practices among students, teachers and researchers. CLE was conceived as spatially and visually comfortable, and the concerns about its environmental footprint and energy savings were particularly taken into account.

address

Lungo Dora Siena, 100 A

10153 Torino TO, Metropolitan City of Torino

The buildings are provided with 35 well-equipped and modern classrooms of multiple sizes, computer labs, language labs, study halls, widespread common spaces, a cafeteria and (in its immediate surroundings) a university canteen. Furthermore, CLE normally houses symposia, seminars, temporary exhibitions, but also national and international academic meetings.

The neighbourhood nearby (Vanchiglia) is a very pleasant residential area, rich in green areas and a few minutes by walk from the historic City Centre with its touristic spots, but also from the Po River and the hills on its right bank. Being a former industrial outskirt of Turin, Vanchiglia has been restored and enhanced by and for students’ life and habits.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Situated in the North-West corner of the country, on the banks of the Po River, Torino (as it is called in Italian) is the administrative centre of the Piedmont Region and the fourth biggest city in Italy. Its urban area is encircled by the majestic range of the Alps and by some very pleasant forested hills, where the Basilica of Superga watches over the city with its unmistakable shape. A few minutes away by foot from the Campus it is situated the other most famous hallmark of the city, the Mole Antonelliana, originally conceived of as a synagogue, it now houses the Museo Nazionale del Cinema, and is believed to be the tallest museum in the world.

The biggest attraction though is the city itself with its cultural offerings, thanks to a wide range of museums, cultural sites, monuments, churches, parks, theatres, and multiple events which take place all year round. More than two thousand years of history have contributed to building up Turin's incredible heritage: from the Roman Empire, through the Middle Ages, to when it became the capital of the Savoy Kingdom. This is why it is bordered by what has been historically known as the "Corona delle Delizie", or "The ring of delights", formed by the Royal Residences dotted around the outskirts of the city. Most importantly, from Turin it began the process of national unification known as Risorgimento, which led the city to become the first capital of Italy in 1861, and then the capital of Italian industrial production over the 20th century thanks to corporations such as FIAT and Olivetti.

Turin's exciting lifestyle is particularly appreciated by young people and students, willing to pursue their academic careers in this city. Over the last years, great work has been done to improve the services of the city to the student community. From a brand new Campus to a higher number of study rooms and housing options, from the nighttime movida of Vanchiglia and San Salvario neighbourhoods to well-suited transportation and student-friendly policies (such as a set of very convenient entry fares for all museums in the city and for concerts at the RAI's National Symphonic Orchestra), Turin is now becoming really a renowned student-oriented city.
