INTERNSHIPS, TRAINEESHIPS, AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Over recent years, the University of Turin's Department of Economics and Statistics, and MSc EACT in particular, have been building many and strong instances of partnership with local institutions, environmental protection agencies, firms, Italian and foreign universities, research centres, and international organizations, in order to let our students experience a traineeship period within the labour market. Internship and traineeship periods may be either "curricular" (thus corresponding to the 3 ECTS labelled as "further activities" within the second year's coursework) or "extra-curricular" (i.e. not being converted into valid ECTS). Indeed, these working exchanges do not only represent a fundamental occasion for professional growth, but also and very often they are thought as part of researching for a MSc Thesis directly applied to concrete business cases or research gaps. The average duration of such periods ranges around 3 or 4 months.

At this link you will find some examples of available offers which are highlighted by our academics; at this other link you will find all their proposals for MSc Theses implying an internship o traineeship which are currently active - or which have been recently assigned (the latter may well inspire coming graduates in respect of the replication and advancement of such working experiences, whether practicable). This third link instead relates to the webpage of the Job Placement Office within the Department of Economics and Statistics, where you can find plenty of suggestions on where to look for and how to apply to a well-suited internship period, as well as other open positions (both curricular and extra-curricular).

As regarding the wide array of scholarships, grants, special awards which are normally open to application within the whole University (and in many cases thanks to public-private partnerships and funding agreements), you will track all the relevant tenders and not-to-miss news here and here.

Our most usual partners where our students have spent an exchange period in the recent past include: the Italian Ministry of the Environment, UNEP, UNFCCC Secretariat, WEEC - World Environmental Education Congress, ARPA Piedmont (the regional environmental protection agency), the Environmental Directorate of the Piedmont Regional Government, the Municipality and the Province of Turin, "Compagnia di San Paolo" Foundation within Intesa San Paolo, IKEA, Allianz Risk Transfer, CNH Industrial, Generali Italia, FCA, Eaton Industries s.r.l., ENEA (the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), IRES Piedmont (researching on economic and social sciences), ENEL X, the National Research Council (IRCRES and ISAC Directorates), ARPA Aosta Valley, LARTU - Laboratory for the Analysis and Representation of the City and its Territory, the UNESCO Centre in Turin, the Egyptian Museum in Turin, the Philharmonic Orchestra in Turin, Turin's Museums Foundation, CIMA Foundation, GIZ Deutschland, Envipark Torino, CESAM - Center for the Environmental and Marine Studies in Aveiro (Portugal), Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science at the University of Dundee (Scotland), CIRF (Italian Centre for river basins redevelopment), International Training Center ILO - Turin School of Development, CMCC - Centro Mediterraneo sul Cambiamento Climatico, Torino Strategica, and many others. Note that this was a merely illustrative summary, as our former students have undertook really a large spectrum of different careers in the past. Indeed, some of these experience could have gone unnoticed, but many of their stories are collected at the "ALUMNI" section of this website.
