As you can see in the graph on the left, the Master of Science in Environmental, Culture and Land Economics is not addressed to a limited number of applicants; instead, the figure for incoming students has constantly surged in the recent past.

To access directly MSc EACT, students aiming to enrol must satisfy one of the following three conditions, in terms of academic requirements:

  • They must have completed the Bachelor's level degree (an Italian Laurea Triennale or a valid equivalent foreign degree), pertaining one of the following areas of study - referring particularly to education "clusters" defined by the Italian regulation (more precisely by DM 270/2004, and previously by DM 509/1999 as denoted in brackets):

- Economics: L-18 Economics and Business Administration (formerly L17)
- Economics: L-33 Economics and Management (formerly L28)
- Political Science: L-36 Political Sciences and International Relations (formerly L15)
- Political Science: L-37 Social Sciences, Co-operation, Development, and  Peace (formerly L35)

- Environmental Science: L-7 Structural and Environmental Engineering (formerly L8)
- Environmental Science: L-25 Forestry and Agriculture Sciences and Technologies (formerly L20)
- Environmental Science: L-32 Environmental and Natural Sciences and Technologies (formerly L27)
- Cultural Science: L-1 Cultural Heritage (formerly L13)

- Cultural Science: L-17 Architecture (formerly L4)
- Land Science: L-6 Geography (formerly L30)
- Land Science: L-15 Tourism Studies (formerly L39)

- Land Science: L-21 Land PlanningUrban and Landscape Studies (formerly L7);

  • Master's level five-year degrees obtained under the "old" Italian regulatory order may also be considered valid for the direct admission, in case they are consistent with the areas of study listed hereabove. A case-by-case assessment is due, under the responsibility of the teaching commission in charge of evaluating all preliminary requests of admission;

  • Students who completed a Bachelor's level degree other than those listed above can also directly access MSc EACT whether they have obtained prior to 10th September 2019 the following number of European ECTS (or CFU, as they are called in Italian). Further ECTS may be obtained by passing free exams out of one's own curriculum, or by purchasing the attendance to single courses after the graduation, outside of one's own Degree. Note that all the codes refer to specific Italian legislation on university courses ("Settori Scientifico-Disciplinari"):

- 12 ECTS in the "Economics" cluster: SECS-P/01, SECS-P/02, SECS-P/03, SECS-P/06, AGR/01, ING-IND/35; and
- 6 ECTS in the "Mathematics" cluster: SECS-S/06, MAT/05; and
- 6 ECTS in the "Statistics" cluster: SECS-S/01, SECS-S/02, SECS-S/03, MAT/06.

Additionally, students aiming to enrol must prove to have adequate knowledge of English. More in detail, such a requirement shall be considered fulfilled whether:

  • applicants have obtained during their previous career at least 5 ECTS from English exams; or

  • they have achieved any valid English language certificate issued by an accredited body (namely FCE-First Cambridge, PET, IELTS, TOEFL, International House etc.), with minimum level B2 or equivalent according to the Common European Framework.

The enrolment procedure consists of two phases:

  1. The Preliminary Admission phase, abiding essentially by MSc EACT's own rules; and

  2. The Final Enrolment phase, which follows the successful completion of the preliminary admission and depends on University of Turin's general rules - thus being the same for all other Masters.

More precisely, the following are the steps to undertake in order to enrol:

1) Potential candidates to enrol the MSc EACT must submit, at first, a preliminary request of admission by filling the form available at this link (Italian only) and by enclosing their CV and a list of all the exams they have passed during their Bachelor's Degree (plus their respective marks).

All students approaching the end of their Bachelor's Degree may also submit a preliminary request of admission, provided that they expect to graduate within the summer term - and most importantly before MSc EACT begins. MSc EACT's President and the heads of the two curricula will review all preliminary requests of admission to control that the academic entry requirements listed above are always satisfied. Candidates will be notified upon the outcome of such a reviewing.

We remind that all preliminary requests must be sent at the latest on 10th September 2019. Applications sent beyond that date may well be considered favourably too, but only in the case that the determination procedure described at the next point is fully met, without the need to undertake the entrance assessment test.

2) When all requirements are met, candidates are admitted to the determination procedure of their knowledge and skills, as laid down by a Ministry of Education's directive concerning all Master's Degrees. This procedure, which is different from the formal requirements listed above, consists of ascertaining that the candidates have adequate skills in the main pillars of all courses that are taught at MSc EACT, namely microeconomics, maths, statistics, and English language.

But how will this determination procedure take place?

-> Students coming from Bachelor's Degrees from the list hereabove (first bullet of the "Entry Requirements" section) are to be directly authorized whether they have succeeded in their relative exams (12 ECTS in the "Economics" cluster, 6 ECTS in the "Mathematics" cluster, and 6 ECTS in the "Statistics" cluster) with an average grade of at least 25 out of 30. Otherwise, they will have to undertake an entrance assessment test (Test di Accertamento della Personale Preparazione, or TAPP), which may well be limited to the only clusters where their performances have been particularly poor.

-> Students coming from other Bachelor's Degrees, who nonetheless have obtained all the missing ECTS (as stated above) shall be subject to the same rules regarding the average grade, that must equal at least 25 out of 30.

Note that the two alternative dates of the entrance assessment test (TAPP) are always communicated in the Bulletin Board on the homepage of this website. Outcomes will be personally notified to the candidates a few days after: only a positive outcome of the TAPP will give candidates a full authorization to enrol.

3) Once a full authorization to enrol has been obtained (either directly or after the TAPP test), students shall complete the enrolment procedure by logging in their personal account on the University's website (after having received the personal credentials) and filling the apposite form, starting from 3rd September 2019 and no later than 19th December 2019 (h.15.00). When fulfilling this final step online, students will have to upload their official request of admission (that will have to be printed, signed and re-scanned), in addition to the full authorization to enrol and together with the payment receipt of the first instalment of the academic fees.

A complete description of this final step of the enrolment procedure (namely how to submit the general request of admission and how to pay academic fees), which is valid by the way for every free-access Master's Degrees at the University of Turin, is available here. For any further questions, students may address the Student Secretariat of the University of Turin's School of Legal Studies, Political Science, and Social and Economic Sciences at CLE Campus. Hereafter you can find its contact information:

e-mail: segreteriastudenti.cle@unito.it - tel.: (+39) 0116709900 - up-to-date opening hours to the public available here. The Student Secretariat can be reached directly from home also by logging in your own personal account on the University's website.

La domanda di Ammissione Preliminare (punto 1 sezione "Come Iscriversi") può  essere presentata:

- dal 6 maggio, dalle ore 09:00, ed entro il 28 giugno 2024 per

About the Entrance Assessment Test (TAPP)
italgas-CLE-14-1600x900.jpg

As reported on the homepage, those students who, after the preliminary application, will have to undertake the entrance assessment test (TAPP) may do so on two different dates - one during July and one in September. All details upon the precise schedule and venues are updated on the homepage's Bulletin Board.

Please note that candidates who fail the TAPP test at the first instance in July are allowed to get another chance to pass the exam at the second session in September. Candidates undertaking the test just at the second instance will not be granted a second opportunity. More concretely, the TAPP test consists of a series of multiple-choice questions, to be answered on a duration of 100 minutes. By clicking on these links, students can download a complete syllabus for each subject covered by the test (Mathematics, Microeconomics, and Statistics), along with a specimen of the TAPP itself.

Transfers from other MSc Degrees

Students who are currently enrolled in other MSc Degrees, who do not intend to complete their coursework and who wish instead to switch to MSc EACT, must follow these rules, stated on the subject by the University of Turin. Candidates who have already accomplished a MSc Degree in the past, and now intend to join our course of studies, must do the same. For both categories, a partial recognition of those exams who are deemed to be equivalent or compatible with our syllabus may lead to their study programmes within MSc EACT to be shortened. Here you can find the form to submit in case you are willing to request the conversion of your previous ECTS, thus by shortening your career. In order to finalize your transfer, this form will have to be submitted to the Student Secretariat at the Department of Economics and Statistics "Cognetti De Martiis". It is highly recommended, though, to seek a preliminary evaluation on their compatibility, by getting directly in touch with our President or Head of EPA/EPC Curricula.
